1986 – KUNG FU: THE MOVIE dvd. this actually takes place during the original timeline, back in the old west with caine (david carradine) still a nomad and with a bounty still on his head. however it is a new story line. it has many of the original actors from the original series, even keye luke as master po. as well his nemesis in the movie is BRANDON LEE in his FIRST movie roll.

1987 – KUNG FU: THE NEXT GENERATION dvd. this is a new story line, in present day california, and again BRANDON LEE co stars, however this time he is a great great grandson of caine. this was the pilot episode of a series that was never made.

1993-1997 – KUNG FU: THE LEGEND CONTINUES dvd set. this takes place in the present day and again david carradine returns as caine, however in this series he plays the great great grandson of the original kwai chang caine (himself).

1993 – KUNG FU: A LEGEND REBORN dvd. this is actually the pilot episode to the legend continues and the full set above does have this episode, however as carzy as it is, this version is the original uncensored cut, it contains NUDITY! i dont know why they shot nude scenes for a tv pilot, but they did. but when they aired the series, this episode was the first one, the name changed to legend continues and the nude scenes were still in it but reshot and the girls had tops on for it. very strange.

two rare OSBOURNES compilation discs from DOWNLOADS;
disc 1 is loaded with rarities, the coolest being a precursor to “the osbournes” reality show, this was a special done by the travel channel in the late 90s, basically the same format as the reality show, they hang out at the house with a very young aimee, kelly, and jack, a slew of dogs, a house in l.a. and one in the u.k., very cool stuff and defint. the true inspiration for the reality show. then the dvd also has the osbournes segment from mtv cribs that was the second inspiration to do the reality show. the barbara walters osbournes special. then more goodies like the first american tv app. by ozzy and sharon in the EARLY 80s, an early app by ozzy on letterman 1982 right after randy died, and more!
disc 2 has two cool ozzy rarities, a 1998 episode of vh1’s documentary, ozzy osbourne; BEHIND THE MUSIC. then after that episode is a 1992 episode of the whoopie goldberg show and ozzy is her guest and she interviews him for 20 minutes!

BUT, it has far more than just wrestling, it has lots of people talking about in depth about andy and has lots of rare clips of andy being interviewed. its just all around a very interesting special that gives a lot of cool insight into the mind of kaufman!

SKATETOWN USA dvd – an insanely CHEEEESY!!! movie. 1979, starring scott baio, patrick swayze, maureen mckormick, misc people like the UNKNOWN COMIC performs as well as Murray langston has an acting part, and horshack from welcome back kotter. this movie is jaw dropping, it is so cheesy it is actually good! the premise; roller disco contest, patrick swayze is “ACE” the switchblade carrying roller disco dancer gang member who rules the rink. i cannot go on enough about this movie, i was in awe from beginnig to end, its hilarious. think, “thank god its friday” in a roller rink with the strangest cast youll ever see. honestly and surprisingly this is actually a pretty good movie, and actually really funny. oh so 70’s though. this belongs in everyones collection! from 16mm print. (p.s. never released in any format, only on the big screen)

a second scott baio movie made for tv in 1980. “the boy who drank too much” dvd this is an afterschool special meant to show kids the dangers of drinking. pretty bad stuff. also contains a handful of classic 70s beer commercials, for beer i dont even remember existing.

Through the course of it, we are led on a tour of his “everyday life, ” which includes a one-on-one hockey game with a middle aged man, him modelling the latest fashions, and several “heartfelt” talks about what a decent guy he is.

SKATETOWN USA dvd – an insanely CHEEEESY!!! movie. 1979, starring scott baio, patrick swayze, maureen mckormick, misc people like the UNKNOWN COMIC performs as well as Murray langston has an acting part, and horshack from welcome back kotter. this movie is jaw dropping, it is so cheesy it is actually good! the premise; roller disco contest, patrick swayze is “ACE” the switchblade carrying roller disco dancer gang member who rules the rink. i cannot go on enough about this movie, i was in awe from beginnig to end, its hilarious. think, “thank god its friday” in a roller rink with the strangest cast youll ever see. honestly and surprisingly this is actually a pretty good movie, and actually really funny. oh so 70’s though. this belongs in everyones collection! from 16mm print. (p.s. never released in any format, only on the big screen)

“Darkside of The Rainbow” dvd aka; pink floyd vs. the wizard of oz. ok some of you have heard of this in the past, the movie the wizard of oz with the audio track replaced with pink floyds dark side of the moon album. a classic stoner gem, like pink floyd at the lazarium. basically the music from the album seems to track very well with the changes in the movie all on its own, just playing start to finish with the movie,no special editing and makes for a very interesting chillout video. this is GRADE A+ digital.

MORON MOVIES dvd pt 1 and 2. ‘85/86. this is basically stuff that requires getting stoned to watch. one guy and his video camera making extremely short shorts, along the lines of mister bill or something you would see in the wee hours of night flight or cable access tv. about 2 hours, grade A-.

the classsic! THE HARDER THEY COME w jimmy cliff 1973. set in the ghettos of jamaica amongst the reggae and ganja scene. this was the first movie to give the rest of the world a glimpse into the world of dread, beat and blood!

the 1964 western, THE ROUNDERS dvd starring henry fonda and glen ford.

Bollywood INDIAN movie Ellam Inba Mayam dvd “SOLLA SOLLA” this is a bizzare low budget film about god knows what. they are speaking in a middle eastern language. but picture benny hill meets peter sellers and time warps into a bad 60s psychedelic movie done in india, oh yeah dont forget indian dracula, and the infamous dance scene that swept thru the internet, and this movie is over 2 hours long!

the Magic Christian w/ Peter Sellers, Ringo Starr, John Cleese, Christopher Lee, Yule Brenner, Raquel Welch, etc. a 1974 bizarre comedy. exactly what you would expect from this cast.

all 4 of the BARAKA movies. visually intense! and life altering! baraka, powaqqatsi, naqoyqatsi, and koyaanisqatsi

rare ‘77 scare/horror flick “THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN” dvd based on a TRUE story, with a guy who wears a potato sac bag over his head with two small eye holes cut out and goes around killing people on lovers lane and stuff, scenes like killing people with a knife on the end of a trumpet, tying them up and blowing in the trupet while stabbing them. the original killings were know as the “Texarkana Moonlight Murders”. basically this is one i watched as a little kid and we still bring it up sometimes cuz it scared my sister big time back in the day. (not quite so scary anymore) grade A quality.

………1962 black and white, japanese NINJA flick! all “SHINOBI NO MONO” movies 1 thru 9. movie 1 was made in 1962 thru to movie 9 made in 1970, OLD SCHOOL original ninja movies! credited as having made ninjas infamous. keep in mind these movies are based on ACTUAL historical events and figures, real ninjas, real ninja clans, and real battles. as well they dont feature a bunch of stupid camera tricks, mostly very well done, realistic sequences. high quality production, mature, not like a kids ninja movie, or an american ninja movie, more like a kurusawa samuari classic. english subtitles on all 9 movies.
………but wait i have many more ninja movies…..
the six movies below are from toei movies and are just like the shinobi series, as in well made, old school, ninja flicks, all highly recommended.

………and another one like ninjas weapon, this one is from 1957 black and white and even more special effects, magic, and MORE special effects, called “NINJUTSU GOZEN-JIAI” dvd. there is actually more ninjas fighting with magic powers than with weapons in this one.
………then one from 1963 black and white, “KAGEMARU OF THE IGA CLAN” dvd, that falls in between the two above and the classics listed above them, its got lots of special effects etc, but its also got some good straight action and is overall pretty entertaining and solid.
…………..the next two are some later, but classics as well, although these two have a bit more “kung fu theatre” elements in them;

1980 SHADOW WARRIORS the movie, which came before series and not even remotely similar to the series (below)
………lastly THE SHADOW WARRIORS tv series. a 1980 japanese tv series about ninjas 15/16th century starring Sonny Chiba as the legendary ninja Hattori Hanzo. its very well done, excellent story line, good acting. it has great sword fights in every episode. this is sort of the precursor to the american craze. it falls somewhere in between the shinobi classics and the american 80s movies, elements of both, the well done japanese style with just a little of the guilty pleasure american movies from the 80s. sho kusogi definitely borrowed elements from this series.

two episodes of the 80s show; FRIDAY NIGHT VIDEOS dvds, 10/14/83 and 10/28/83. this is an amazing couple of dvds, LOADED with an excellent selection of early 80s videos, as well as a good variety. not to mention they have all the original commercials that are equally amazing and will time warp you back to 1983 (seriously). both episodes are complete 90 min each and lastly the quality is awesome, 9 out of 10 easily. recommended if the time frame or nostaligia interests you.

know any JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE fans? this is HOME MOVIES of; the Making of Justified dvd set. this is a 20 hours worth of private home movies that justin and trace made while making the justified album. these are completely unreleased and unavailable. straight up high quality home movies of the most rare personal footage, simply them running around with a video camera, mostly in the studio working on the album. brian mcknight and the neptunes are in it a lot, hanging out in the hotel room for a little party, walking around town while he goes shopping, flying on a private jet, photo sessions, messing around with a bag of marijuana!, LOTS of chilling in the studio and singing, him and pharrell writing lyrics and music, practing singing them out loud with each other. footage you will never see anywhere else but from this dvd set. basically you feel like you are personally hanging out with him. he is generally talking right into the video camera, kind of like he is talking directly to you.

Jethro Tull ‘70 from an official 2005 dvd release of the 1970 concert on the isle of wight. basically woodstock u.k. 600,000 people! this is actually hosted by ian anderson, and he talks all about the events that say as well as starting jethro tull and playing the flute. not to mention the full concert with backstage etc. awesome dvd if your a fan of tull. has spanish subtitles on screen. quality is A+. 1hr 20 min.

“Wizard of Floyd” aka “Darkside of The Rainbow” aka; pink floyd vs. the wizard of oz. ok some of you have heard of this in the past, the movie the wizard of oz with the audio track replaced with pink floyds dark side of the moon album. a classic stoner gem, like pink floyd at the lazarium. basically the music from the album seems to track very well with the changes in the movie all on its own, just playing start to finish with the movie,no special editing and makes for a very interesting chillout video. this is digital GRADE A+ quality.

(ATTENTION; i just added a new set to my collection, a 7 disc collection NEW WAVE THEATRE dvd set. they are not found in the N.F. set below and not the 2hr “best of”)

NIGHT FLIGHT DVD SET over 100+ HOURS!!! The ultimate collection featuring the weirdest, coolest, and most hilarious segments from the classic 1980s all-night TV program. If you are not familiar with NIGHT FLIGHT it was produced when cable tv, and, specifically, music videos, actually took chances. On the USA Network on Friday and Saturday nights, was dedicated to providing surreal viewing pleasure for insomniacs. Nowadays, we have infomercials to fill this void, but there was once a place where seekers of the avant-garde could find something satisfying on television (of all places)… If you were one of the people who grew up in the early 1980s, chances are you either spent those years holding on for dear life to the decomposed remains of the beast that was known as disco…or you embraced the European invasion of punk/new wave culture that was rarely brought forth to the general public in America until this great show emerged. “Night Flight” was a brilliant clip-art collage of avant-garde music performances, abstract art films, and vintage Americana weirdness. This show was a complete revelation, a unique vision that was entirely conceptually revolutionary. When it’s 2am and I am flicking channels, skimming over the endless infomercials, I am looking for something, anything that might be as cool as Night Flight was. This is the TV show that introduced so much of middle America to cult movies, punk rock, reggae, deconstructionist video, and so much more. Television had never been so anarchic and probably never will be again. Sadly with the homogenization and demogrification of TV (as well as most media), we won’t see a show like this again. Infomercials now rule the late-night landscape and it is apt to stay that way, informercials bring in income, shows like “Night Flight” only brought in viewers, and who cares about them anymore? And due to copyright infringements by the show, they were very casual about obtaining permission to air stuff on ‘Night Flight’ it will probably never be shown on repeats, not as it originally aired anyway. With these discs, you can have something beyond your own memories of NIGHT FLIGHT to enjoy.

DATING DO’S AND DON’TS is the same sort of thing but about dating and so much funnier! disc one; –(CRASS, Skrewdriver ‘77 with hair as punks! (pre skin), MAU MAUS, ONE WAY SYSTEM and Schwartzneggar)–
very cool stuff on this disc. first the only known live footage of crass! looks like ‘79? however it is only a couple minutes long, not even a complete song but thats all there is in existence!, then the oldest footage of SKREWDRIVER. 1977 before they were skinheads, and before ian stole the name and turned into a racist bastard. this is them with shaggy hair! singing anti social, as well as a short interview with ian. this footage is also short, only 5 minutes, but f’ing awesome! then a full hour of ONE WAY SYSTEM, early skin days and later punk days, live 82 and 83 in the uk and live 84 at olympic auditorium. then a full show by MAU MAUS 1983 in the u.k. this disc also has 15 minutes of SCHWARTZNEGGAR at what looks like a show from the 90’s.

disc 2; –(D.I., Suicidal Tendencies, Meatmen)–
first we have 15 minutes of suicidal tendancies at rollerworks in l.a. 1983, awesome old footage, lots of kids on stage going crazy, grade B-/C+. then over an hour of D.I. live. first is two promo videos shot in the early 80s at fenders ballroom for “johnnys got a problem” and “dont do it”, then 25 minutes of them live at fenders 86, grade C+, then 40 minutes of them live in france in 94. after that is 40 minutes of MEATMEN texas 1996, grade A-. (more meatmen and suicidal on disc 9)

disc 3; –SHAM 69–
first a few old live clips of them in 78?, then a 1979 sham docum. with tons of live footage and interviews with jimmy, very cool. 45 minutes, grade A-. then another hour of sham live in 2002 in the u.k. also with cool interviews, grade B+. (the first docum. is an upgrade from lower quality versions circulated in the past)

disc 4; –(REAGAN YOUTH, 7 SECONDS, ILL REPUTE, BAD RELIGION)–
first reagan youth in l.a.’s olympic auditorium 1984, 20 minutes, GRADE C/C-. then 15 minutes of ill repute at the stardust in 84 GRADE B/B- , then 7 seconds, 2 shows, 85 cool footage, 35 minutes long, GRADE B+/B. then uniform choice 1987 in conneticut 35 min, GRADE B/B-, then bad religion, cool, GRADE A-, early footage, 20 minutes long..

disc 5 –(misfits/samhain)–
first misfits live 3 different early 80’s shows, a cable access tv show in 82 called why be something your not, from detroit, GRADE C+, with them playing for about 25 minutes in front of a small audience of punks thrashing around and then a second larger show, from new jersey i think, another 25 min long, both with robo (b.flag) on drums GRADE C-, and then 2 hours! of different samhain shows, 2 very cool, early, small intimate shows, one with an interview at the end of it w glenn and the band, earlier samhain (glen was still small) with erie, steve zine, and damien after the release of initium for a cable access show called l.a. access. GRADE B-, the third show was later with steroid glenn all puffed up. (more misfits on disc 21)

video documentary about the FARM in san francisco FARMCORE! the farm was the last punk mecca, true hardcore venue in the sf bay area (no kiddies gillman is not and was not one of them) it closed in 87. this video covers the farm and the shows that went on there. it is about an hour long, GRADE A, and has appearances (couple songs each) by Verbal Abuse Dr.Know BGK MDC DOA RKL fang, scream, cheetah chrome motherfuckers, frightwig, sister double happiness, polkacide,mentors,no means no. then a live/documentary style video w two seperate videos on it. ok quality, UK/DK w exploited, vice squad, adicts, damned, blitz, business, varukers, chaos uk, and disorder,then a vid called punk on the road with gbh, exploited, panorama in black, one way system, dead mans shadow, uk subs, mau maus, expozez, destructors, urban dogs and major accident. this has the majority of several diff. videos on it . good quality, it is about 4 and half hours long. it starts with “another state of mind” from 82 that follows youth brigade and social distortion on tour also a stop at the discord house to hang out with minor threat and a live show with them also, then it runs into a presentation called punks and posuers from 86 or 85 that has gbh, dickies and raw power live in LA, after that it has an interview w jello biafra on a san francisco talk show called a.m. san francisco, then an old skate video called a blast from the past and present with the dicks, agent orange, drunk injuns, tales of terror, conquer to death, and screamin sirens all live, w skating by caballero, lance mountain, hosoi, tony hawk, and lester kasai, made in 86. (more minor threat on disc 19)

disc 8; –heavy metal parking lot–, great quality, this is a rare 15th aniversary presentation of the classic stoner underground cult documentary heavy metal parking lot shot in the parking lot of a 1986 judas priest concert. this is one of the funniest docum. you will ever see, of the most white trash, episode of cops, drunken stoner, mullet heads on the planet. it has lost footage from the parking lot that day as well as several other indy movies paying homage to the classic. it has judas priest sidewalk shot at a nineties reunion tour at the warfield in san francisco, it has neil diamond parking lot shot 10 years later at the same venue as the original film, it has harry potter parking lot shot at a book signing by the author, it has spice girls parking lot, it has raver bathroom! shot at some misc rave in the bathroom with wasted kids telling you why drugs are good, it has monster truck parking lot, plus several other bonus featurettes.

Best Of Flipside Vol. 2- full sets featuring Minutemen live and Minor Threat live at the rollerworks 1983 grade B+/A-. then Flipside Video 3- (1 or 2 songs each)featuring Agent Orange, Big Boys, America’s Hardcore, MIA, Subterfuge, Confederate, Darby Crash Band (cool footage right before his death), Suicidal Tendencies(1st album line-up), Killroy, Toy Dolls, Mad Parade, Eddie And The Subtitles, Iconoclast, and No Trend. GRADE B+/A-. then Way USA – This video has both episodes of the wacky ass MTV show hosted by Tesco Vee of the meatmen. GRADE C+/B- The first one starts with really low audio, but it get’s better as it goes on. Really funny stuff. Also on this tape is the first episode of Why Be Something You’re Not, the Detroit cable access show, this episode features Necros, with an interview and 4 or 5 songs live, quality is C+. After that, a Meatmen show from 83 with the Dutch Hercules line up, from Wilson Center in Wash. DC., grade C-/D quality. (more meatmen and suicidal on disc 39)

DISC 10; –Raw Power–
1984 to 2001 has footage of the Italian hardcore greats from Italy and America. Includes footage from 85 in Arizona, a nicely shot documentary of their 98 “Big Ass” American Tour, as well as lots of other stuff, footage from 2000 in Nogales, Mexico, as well as early rehearsal footage, and some early live stuff. (more raw power on disc 7)

disc 11; –(CLASH)–
a TWO HOUR, home made compilation of tons of rare – CLASH – performances and interviews. very cool footage here. im only a mediocre fan of the clash and i was totally interested in the footage on this, made me wish it was longer even at two hours. its packed with endless old news reels, local news interviews, the clash on different shows like saturday night live and fridays, and the TOM SNYDER show etc etc.. i had never seen 95 percent of the footage on the disc. quality is OK but NOT great. after that is an hour and a half long documentary called a voice from heaven about middle eastern singer nusrat fateh ali khan, not even remotely punk rock just a docum. i found interesting so i burned it.

disc 12; –(new wave theatre, 45 grave, circle jerks, surf punks, the plugz, dead kennedys, legal weapon, unknowns, angry samoans, fear, beastie boys, BUTTHOLE SURFERS, half japanese)–
two rare gems on this disc. first is over 2 and a half hours of the early 80s l.a. cable access tv show “new wave theatre” shown nationally on “night flight”. it aired from 81 to 83 and featured performances by bands like 45 grave, circle jerks, surf punks, the plugz, dead kennedys, legal weapon, unknowns, angry samoans, fear, and a bunch of others. then the second item on this disc, after new wave theatre is beastie boys as a pimple faced teenaged HIGH SCHOOL PUNK BAND!!! with the chic from luscious jackson on drums. this is another cable access show from 1983. made by the same guy who made heavy metal parking lot. it is only 3 songs by the beastie boys but pretty classic footage. no hip hop just really bad punk rock. although you can see signs of their future ways starting to show. the quality is A, it also has several songs by the BUTTHOLE SURFERS on the same show (they were on acid at the time), it is likely the earliest surfers footage you will find, all of them young, shot in 1983. grade A. then another hour of other misc unknown bands, the only other one i heard of is half japanese. (more beastie boys on disc 40 and b. surfers on disc 41 and 45 GRAVE on disc 44)

combat records tour 1985 excellent quality one hour, with Venom, Exodus, and Slayer! aka “ultimate revenge”. held in new york city at the legendary home of disco, studio 54 of all places. also has some cool interviews. beware the stoner mullett headed crowd though, its like heavy metal parking lot all over again. lower quality, 30 minutes of old samoans footage, then better quality footage from the angry samoans documentary, the first 20 minutes only, the rest was boring as fuck. then the germs at the whisky 1979, better quality, from an official germs media blitz release cd. 20 minutes. then so so quality old footage of the viletones 20 min. 1977 in canada, then the black and white documentary crash and burn with the dead boys, teenage head, diodes, boy friends, 25 minutes 1977 so so quality. then the dicks, flipside video, 1984 l.a., better quality, 15 minutes.

disc 22; –(CODE OF HONOR, CRUCIFUCKS, NEGATIVE APPROACH, tsol, black flag, fear, circle jerks, vandals, d.i.)–
this is a pretty cool disc, cool shit on it. quality is ok, first 20 minutes of CODE OF HONOR on a san francisco cable access show, next the CRUCIFUCKS on why be something your not, 25 minutes long. then NEGATIVE APPROACH on why be something your not, 25 minutes. all 3 bands BEFORE their first albums were made. then a 40 minute long black and white documentary, very very cool, called urban struggle-battle for the cuckoo’s nest. if you don know what the nest is i will explain, it was a huntington beach venue that hosted some of the early shows from back in the day. one of the original homes of hardcore, before there was moshing, even before there was slam dancing there was the huntington beach skank (picture the circle jerks logo). this has interviews at the club in 1981 with people from tsol, black flag, fear, circle jerks, vandals, d.i. , with live performances by tsol, black flag, circle jerks, if you know any of the lyrics to vandals songs you will hear them explained on this documentary. “i want to be a cowboy” long story about it. anyways this is a great piece of southern california punk history. (more crucifucks on disc 46)

disc 23; a two hour – RAMONES – documentary. this was recorded from antenna tv so dont expect no high def. picture but the quality is ok, just not great. however the documentary is pretty good. it is INDEPTH, COMPLETE from the VERY BEGINNINGs talking to chilhood friends in their old neighborhood, joey mom, etc etc, to the very end after joey and dee dee’s deaths, the first hour alone is spent on 1977. with tons of rare footage from early early shows, and coverage of the pre punk scene that influenced the ramones, like footage of IGGY and the STOOGES and the NEW YORK DOLLS with interviews from members of the damned, the pistols and the clash and other old schoolers and how the ramones influenced them. after that is a short ten minute film about joe strummers last band in the 90’s and his attempts at a comeback, joe is actually on the street handing out hand written flyers to his own show trying to get people to go!, thats a trip cuz i always figured he always had a good following. then ten minutes of a ramones show in australia in 1991.

disc 24; –(S.O.D., Corrosion Of Conformity, D.R.I.)–
ok this one is another long hair headbanger warning! a 40 minute show of S.O.D., 1985 at the lamour in Brooklyn ny. the qualty is really bad though, black and white, the sound is ok, its too bad cuz its a pretty ripping show, the crowd is totally hyped and loud as well as the band, a lot of energy at the show, but the quality is just crappy, GRADE D, although it is still viewable, enjoyable and watchable, if you really want to see s.o.d. (better SOD on disc #51). then good quality footage of Corrosion Of Conformity with D.R.I. at a really small venue in upstate new york in 1986 called the Elks Club, looks more like somebodys garage! pretty cool though cuz the show is so intimate, no stage, just the bands standing in front of a bunch of headbanging teenagers. C.O.C. is about 25 minutes, D.R.I. is about 40 minutes. then a huge stadium style DRI show in l.a.’s olympic auditorium also 1986. total opposite of the little local ny. show. another 40+ minutes. then it ends with about 5 minutes of an unknown metal band practicing in there living room, if you know who they are please let me know. the c.o.c. footage and d.r.i. footage is all good quality.

disc 25; –(THREE documentaries – history of punk, history of the mosh pit, and the germs)–
on this disc, pretty cool stuff,, 40 minutes each, first MTV: The Social History of the Mosh Pit, second the history of punk, both have just about everybody on it, starting at the beginning of each subject and getting into the details of each with extensive old video of tons of old bands and shit, tons of interviews with way too many people to list. very interesting and informative, lots of old school shit, (new school crap too but who cares) the third documentary is an unfinished and unreleased germs documentary. with members of the germs, black flag, c.jerks, a young courtney love, and a bunch more, basically what this is… in the 90’s there was a germs tribute cd done with a bunch of bands doing covers of germs songs. this basically interviews those bands and some others and has them telling old stories about hanging out with the germs and with darby and some of the shit that went on in l.a. back in the day, also pretty cool. so the quality of this disc??? its ok but its not great, basically the audio is crappy, it has a lot of “hiss” but you can still hear them and understand them, and the picture quality is like 6 out of 10. but…keep in mind these are documentaries, so its mostly people talking and clips of live shows and stuff, not a lot of straight forward music so the audio quality is not as important as with my other “live” discs above. still this disc is totally watchable and enjoyable.

two films shown recently on the independent film channel. first an indepth history of the earliest days of punk, and the roots of punk called “punk: attitude” it was made by don lettes who was a local reggae/dub dj at the clubs that hosted the earliest punk shows in the uk, as well don hung out with everybody back in the day and his music helped to influence many early reggae sounds like the clash had. this is a very detailed documentary, starting at the very beginning of punk, with bands like MC5, IGGY, VELVET UNDERG.,NY DOLLS, SUICIDE, DICTATORS, PRETENDERS, CLASH, SLITS, DAMNED,PISTIOLS,RAMONES, BUZZCOCKS, SIOUXSIE, MAGAZINE, XRAYSPEX,BAGS SCREAMERS,BAD BRAINS,D.K.,MINOR THREAT, FUGAZI, YOUTH OF TODAY,BLACK FLAG,GERMS, WEIRDOS, this covers every aspect of the bands that influenced the bands before punk, like the doors, jerry lee lewis, and influences like hippies, etc, most of the bands mentioned have footage from the earliest gigs as well as many of them have CURRENT interviews with band members and there take on the past. it covers the early u.k. scene, and has video of everybody from then as little teenagers! sid created the pogo?!?!. as well this docum. covers the new york scene, gives credit to it as the birth of punk, and again most of the bands mentioned have current interviews. the second film is the SEX PISTOLS documentary “THE FILTH AND THE FURY”. equally interesting, with absolutely no stone left unturned about there history. with the band talking about all the shit that went on back in the day, as well as tons of footage and interviews with sid, and the rest of the band talking about sid, as well as the original bass player before sid. all good stuff. surreal footage of the pistols performing in front of an audience of children, singing about abortion and fuck this fuck that etc etc. as well as sid and nancys overdose, there own real footage from the chelsea hotel, sids solo stuff, basically much of the actual footage that the movie “sid and nancy” re-enacted, johnny talking about sids death. and again current interviews with the pistols. an hour and a half each movie. then the third movie loosely fits into some of the above; “Mayor of the Sunset Strip” ; chronicles the life of Rodney Bingenheimer, an L.A. DJ who helped to launch the careers of the most influential bands in rock music history. from the rolling stones, and bowie, to the sex pistols, ramones, x, germs, you name it. this is a pretty interesting documentary about a guy that has had quite a life, although sadly not much to show for it. rodney is still a dj on the same station in l.a. breaking all the newest bands.

disc 31; MOTORHEAD!
classic motorhead footage. over two hours of 3 live concerts. first 2 concerts pro shot for television airing. the first one is 1980 in germany, the second 1981 in ireland, the third is from an official release, motorhead the birthday party, live in london celebrating 10 years together. also on this disc is there appearance on “the young ones” in 84, they play one song; ace of spades. GRADE B/B+

disc 32: PLASMATICS,
this is a 2 HOUR disc of super rare footage. a ton of misc appearances, interviews, concerts, with spots on random tv shows like night flight, SCTV, even a japanese television show taken from a plasmatics gig at CBGB’S. the quality of the footage overall is not great but it is very rare stuff. if you ever had been curious to know more about them this disc will take care of it. but there is more plasmatics on disc 53.

disc 33: P.I.L.
public image limited. this is a custom collection of extremely rare pil performances. 2 hours long and loaded with stuff from the very begining in 1978, 79, thru the 80’s. pil on tv shows like the old grey whistle test and check it out, live concerts, slamming and stage diving at a pil show?, pil doing sex pistols, old tv interviews like the tom snyder show, pil on american bandstand!!! what! even johnny rotten on judge judy a couple years ago being sued by a drummer! quality is good and sometimes just ok but overall its pretty good though considering the age and vhs sources for the footage.

disc 34: THE JAM
“the complete jam” 50 tracks, an amazing amount of promo videos, live material, and interview footage all add up to make this the definitive Jam collection. 31 live performances are culled from European television, including extensive interviews with singer Paul Weller. One of the biggest bands to emerge from the UK punk scene of 1976/77, The Jam’s mod and soul influenced pop culminated in them breaking records for the most singles in the British Top 75 at one time (13 titles!) and to having three consecutive No.1 singles (”Going Underground,” “Town Called Malice” and “Beat Surrender”).

A TRUE TESTIMONIAL. mc5 pre punk rebellious music, This is a documentary about mc5 that examines the career of the Detroit group (1964-1972). this group was one of the major influences on all future hard rock, metal and early punk bands to come. they played with everyone from clapton to hendrix. Establishing a fast, guitar-fueled loud, anti everything! sound that would influence the PUNK bands years later, the MC5 eventually faded into obscurity, but they have maintained a cult following ever since. (IGGY POP copied this band) Eight years in the making, this documentary includes both archival and recent interview footage with the band members and their associates. history!

Musician (big audio dynamite) and filmmaker Don Letts made this Super 8 documentary of the London punk rock scene in 1977. Shot mostly at the Roxy, a short-lived punk club that hosted every important punk band of the day, the Sex Pistols and the Clash are likely to be the most familiar names in attendance, other featured bands are the Heartbreakers live on tour in England, Siouxsie & the Banshees, X-Ray Spex, and Eater, ATV, Wayne County, the Slits, Subway Sect, Generation X, Slaughter and the Dogs. with backstage revelry, Clash tour bus boredom, with the dark side represented by scenes of drugs and self-abuse. some uk punk history.

disc 37; Ladies and Gentlemen The Fabulous Stains.
this is a 1981 fictional movie about a punk band on the road (loosley based on clash and pistols) and another girl punk band touring with them. it stars diane lane and laura dern and co stars members of the clash and the sex pistols Paul Cook, Steve Jones, and Paul Simonon, and the tubes fee waybill. also the jamaican guy from the red stripe beer commercials! a cult classic, low budget sort of movie that some people may vaguely remember seeing way back when.

disc 40: –(fear, circle jerks, dead kennedys)–
an hour of 2 circle jerks shows, one earlier 1984 stardust ballroom, then a later show. and an hour of FEAR, one show from 92, and then the very rare footage of them on the tv show saturday night live in 1981 with people slam dancing on the show! two of the people slamming happen to be ian mckay (mt) and john joseph of cro mags. and what you see is actually what went out on the air. this was the first time the american public was ever exposed to slam dancing. (this footage is also on disc 7 but very bad quality). dead kennedys, a half hour of very old very cool footage of dead kennedys shows ‘78-81, good quality, including one of their first live shows in front of some very UNimpressed spectators at what looks to be a county fair.

disc 41: BUTTHOLE SURFERS
“blind eye sees all” live at traxx detroit 1985. an official release dvd from 2002. This early video shows them as they built their legendary live reputation. Most of the tunes are from their first 3 albums and a stand out is 100 Million People, released originally only on hard to find compilations. containing Interviews along with great live footage. hour and 20 minutes. grade A. (more surfers on disc 12 and 42)

disc 42: –(BUTTHOLE SURFERS, GWAR, BIG BLACK)–
three weirdo bands for their weirdo fans! first is b. surfers in morganstown west virginia 1985. cool show, 1 hour, A-/B+ quality. then and hour of Gwar at the city gardens in trenton new jersey 1988, grade A-, lastly two shows of BIG BLACK. first is called naked city, its 55 minutes, grade A-, then 45 minutes at the georgetown steel plant chicago 1987, grade A-/B+. (more surfers on disc 12 and 41)

disc 43: BAD BRAINS philly 1981, DOGGY STYLE)–
first is 40 minutes of bad brains in philadelphia for the first time. quality is B-. then 20 minutes of doggy style in socal 1986. quality is C+/B- (more bad brains on disc 1 and 2)

disc 44: (–Black Flag, 45 GRAVE, VENOM)–
first is 2 shows of Black Flag, 15 minutes in mike muirs garage (suicidal t.) a small little show for locals only! 1983 B-, then an hour and 20 minutes live in san francisco at the stone 1984. sounding very gregg ginn/gone sound. it looks like henry is just starting his steroid days at this point. grade A-. then 40 minutes of 45 GRAVE in huntington beach ‘88, good show, grade A-. then 50 minutes of VENOM “second coming” dynamo 1996 with interviews as well. grade B+ (more 45 grave on disc 12 and venom on disc 13)

disc 45: –(SLAYER, MOTORHEAD, BAD BRAINS)–
first is an hour and 15 minutes of Slayer in sweden at the outdoor hultsfred festival 2002, grade A-. then one hour and 45 minutes of Motorhead “25 and alive boneshaker” live at Brixton Academy, December 2000. grade A. then one hour of Bad Brains performing as “soul brains”, the original line up but they sold the rights to the name bad brains to the record company. 1999 irving plaza new york, grade A- (more motorhead on disc 31, slayer on disc 13, bad brains on 1, 2, and 43)

disc 46: –(FANG and Crucifucks)–
first a 1985 show of the crucifucks at love hall philadelphia, grade C-, 25 minutes long, then a 1996 interview with singer Doc Dart in his lansing michigan store, a very unusual character to say the least. grade A-, 15 minutes. then a ton of FANG stuff. first is 1984 at love hall philly, grade C, 15 minutes, then a 5 minute blurb from 1990 on the tv show “a current affair” about sammys suspected involvement with the murder of his girlfriend, then 1987 columbus ohio, 50 minutes, grade B-, then 12 minutes of very dark unknown live footage, lastly 45 minutes in virginia 1988 grade B-. “the paragon of comedy” this is a VERY VERY rare comedy special shown on cable hbo/showtime in 1983. with skits like the al and arnie show, the sex ed teacher, the hippie, the lounge singer ramone azteca. and guests like peewee herman and elvira. it is absolutley classic to those that remember it!!! the picture and sound quality on the dvd are EXCELLENT, grade A.

the original kiss unplugged, NOT the version that was shot for mtv in new york but done in l.a. at a kiss convention in 95! this is where they came up with the idea for the mtv “unplugged” that everyone is aware of. very cool! 2 hours grade A-

also; ace frehley on morton downey junior talk show in the early 80’s with joey ramone and others, arguing, defending, etc. rock and roll, very cool and very rare! 1 hr 30 min. ACE AS USUAL IS HILARIOUS.

1)rare CD: pre-kiss demos! aka Wicked Lester, the name kiss used before they called themselves kiss. this is a full 80 minute cd of music by wicked lester (KISS). with 25 songs you have likely never heard before! all UNRELEASED! from 1968 to 72, including a few bizarre early versions of what would later become kiss songs like she, shout it out loud, and beth!

DVD’S;
2) Long Beach, 2-17-74 the oldest footage of kiss, with digitally remastered video and sound, live in long beach, calif. 1974, ( NOTE; the box set release only has one song from this show, “acrobat”, this dvd has only the tail end of acrobat but then it has 5 more songs! live, that the box set does NOT have, of equal quality and much more interestnig than the box set footage) this is shot on 8mm in color with no sound, then it was been spliced back together with the original audio that was captured separately and restored to a pretty good end product considering it is the oldest kiss performance video. serious history. sounds good and looks good, and more looks at earlier kiss outfits. not only that but this disc has rare footage from new years eve 73/74 concert at the academy of music when gene accidentally set his hair on fire! and after the concert the dvd includes a german tv interview including a perf. of detroit rock city wearing the dressed to kill outfits, as well as behind the scenes stuff.

4) houston, 8-13-76/rehersals the summit in houston, only about half hour of this houston 76 show exists, then its followed by 40 minutes of black and white rehersal footage! then a couple more extras; 3 songs live from the 1975 concert in largo, md. (HUGE diff. in the size of the venue and production from this 75 footage to the largo 79 footage on disc #10), after that footage is a very rare appearance of kiss on the weekly comedy show “fridays”, they perform two songs from the album the elder with eric carr on drums.

5) the Lost concert! new jersey ‘76 + 1983 TV show Night Flight; this is july 10th, 1976 from their spirit of 76 tour, roosevelt stadium, jersey city, NJ. Like the 75 show in san francisco it is shot in black and white but it is SUPERB quality, grade A, even better than the S.F. shows quality. it has two songs performed that they rarely ever played live ” flaming youth” and “watching you”. the audience interaction is very cool, you can hear everyone very clearly yelling to the band between songs this is a very very rare item! then after that a solid hour and half long interview with kiss called “kiss, yesterday and today” on the tv show NIGHT FLIGHT . very cool sit down interview with kiss in full make up, lots of rare concert footage as well. basically kiss talking about the beginnings up to that date. they as usual are being very funny, and very interesting. this is unedited and truly complete, including the footage during commercial breaks, and off air breaks. this footage is a lot like the tom snyder show footage on the largo 79 disc. it is very cool and very candid, a rare real conversation with the guys. and they are very funny mellow guys. also its 1983 but most of this special deals with kiss talking about the early days, as well as the hard times, the good times, peter chris leaving the band, etc. it does however have good early live footage, as well as interesting early 80s perfs. with eric car singing black diamond! and he actually sounds as good as peter!

6) anaheim, california August 20th, 1976, an hour and 20 minutes, includes bonus camera footage for black diamond.

7) a NEW (OLD) ‘77 show!!! live in DETROIT jan. 1977!!! havent seen that before! put into circulation not to long ago, pro shot, grade A, 1 hour

MSG ‘77 and Houston ‘77, two shows, almost 3 hours, (NOTE; houston is the first night! sept. 1st, the box set contains the SECOND night only, sept. 2nd, whereas this disc has sept. 1st and the box set has only 27 minutes of the MSG show on its bonus disc, wheras this disc has the complete show) first; the return to houston at the summitt september. 1st 1977, (1st night) an hour and 20 minute set. then followed by an awesome picture slide show thats over 7 minutes long. then NYC Mad. Sq. Garden feb 18th 1977 an hour and ten minute set. the full set which has 5 additional songs and all the solo’s that the box set disc is missing.

9) media collection 74-78, (NOTE; this disc has several items that can be found in the box set release!) has stuff like abc “in concert”, mike douglas show, hotter than hell tv ad, midnight special, promo for cmon and love me, promo for r and r all night, cadillac high kiss loves you, cobo hall promo, kiss tv ad, news report, don kirschners rock concert, etc. this is an awesome disc, loaded with tons of live perf. footage and tons of kiss interviews, the kiss on mike douglas is f’ing hilarious! gene comes out on stage and he sort of looks ridiculous, he is the REALLY YOUNG, skinny, sort of a stupid kid in a stupid costume. its just so early that he is laughable, not like later gene, big and ominous. he seems like a silly teenager who made his own costume at home, his little skull tshirt and puffy shoulders, f’ing classic.

10) Largo,MD 7-8-79, and Tom Snyder show, (new box set largo bonus disc is the same show HOWEVER it is missing 20 minutes! they cut out some songs and all the solo’s!!!, also the box set cut the tom snyder interview down, there is great segments of ace playing with the stuffed animal thats missing, the quality of the bonus disc largo show is better, but 20 min. shorter). largo 79, a seriously GREAT concert, including tracks from each one of their solo albums. paul forgets the lyrics once and peter forgets the words to beth! plus AWESOME extras like the tom snyder show 79 where ace was completely wasted, this is one of the funniest things you will ever see, ace is ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS, rare form for sure. also a really nice slideshow of 200 photos)

11) Australia ‘80 and New York ‘96, “Inner Sanctum”/”Unmasked” a great disc and the last time kiss was really in there true form as the classic band, eric on drums but still rockin’ classic kiss. this is the epic sydney australia 1980 Inner Sanctum presentation. actually TWO versions! the first version is the actual Inner Sanctum tv show as it aired on aussy television. its high quality and packed with tons of very cool backstage and sideline stuff, a must have. tons of audience interviews and band bio stuff. very cool glossy tv show product all about kiss!!! GRADE A-. however since it was for tv it was only 50 minutes long. but the actual concert was much longer. so after the aussy tv show i have added the complete concert in its entirety! aka UNMASKED tour, 1 hour and 40 minutes! from the raw footage that still has time code across the bottom of it. it is not as good quality wise but it is crucial footage. and they perform songs that were only performed on this tour. quality is grade B+/B. and lastly after the aussy shows i put the full show from the ‘96 reunion tour at n.y.’s MSG with the orig. line up. this is lower quality and is audience shot. grade B-/C+, a sold out concert. 1hour 15 min.

12) The Elder Media Collection. this is an hour long disc like the earlier media collection. loaded with rare footage of kiss on the media tour for release of the elder. it has great stuff on it, all high quality. rare items like kiss on solid gold hosted by barry gibb, on entertainment tonight, casey casem, live at studio 54, on the flo and eddie show, the full 3 songs performed on “fridays”, etc etc etc. grade A.

13) Live in Rio 83/Creatures of the Night MEDIA Collection. this is 2 dvd’s in length, its the full media collection for the release of the creatures lp. it also has 40 minutes of the concert in rio de jeniero 1983 shown on television in south america, “Live in Rio”. it as usual is also packed with rare footage of kiss all over the world promoting the album, holland, spain, italy, germany, rare clips from all over the place. grade A-.

14) just rcvd! -KISS 12/8/84 Detroit, pro shot, 2 hour, animalize tour, grade A+ from official release vhs. good audience shots and lots of eric carr.

15) Philadelphia 87/NY 1-26-88 kiss in there transformed years. for the “crazy nights” tour. were talking kiss in no make up, with out peter or ace, wearing tennis shoes! no platforms and plenty of spandex! oh the eighties. the stage set up is pretty elaborate though and the quality is excellent. an hour and 20 min. set. the second show is interesting because it is the smallest kiss show i have seen. its in the smaller town of poughkeepsie ny. and is obviously a “special” private show. it is at a venue that probably holds 300 people. there are no theatrics at all, no flames, no blood, no fancy lights, just kiss on a smaller stage in front of a smaller audience. pretty cool though. seems like it was probably fun, a good old fashioned rock and roll show. they even close with a zeppelin tune! it is actually audience shot but the quality is very good. another hour and 20 min.

16) just rcvd -KISS VISUAL EVOLUTION; basically the disc covers their different looks/costumes/make up over the classic years. from 73 thru 79. with old interviews with the band, 1hour, lots of old make up designs, etc. grade A.

17) KISS “THE VIDEOS” 1974-2002. this is almost 3 full hours of kiss videos. it has 44 MTV style music videos and old school promo videos. 44 songs, from the early days in ‘74 to the glam days of the eighties and nineties, even the attempts at heavy metal with the song “unholy”, to the reunion “unplugged” 95 and a reunion concert from 96, and a vh1 promo with kiss and the cast of that 70’s show. including some old songs i have never seen performed elsewhere like “love ‘em, leave ‘em”. it ends with a picture slide show, containing photos of kiss thru all the different line ups and reunions. grade A-/A.

18)KISS DOCUMENTARIES! this disc has TWO docs. about kiss on it. first is a vh1 presentation called “ultimate albums”. it is about the band leading up to the making of “alive”. ace, paul, gene, and peter are all a part of the excellent documentary. with endless footage from back in the day, super rare stuff that i havent seen on any of my kiss discs before. gene and the band sit down for vh1 in full makeup and give a detailed account of what went on back in the good ol days. as well they admit that kiss alive wasnt exactly live. this is wonderful presentation of KISSTORY that should be seen by anyone who wants to know more about kiss. 45 minutes, grade A quality. the second presentation is an hour and 40 minute home made documentary by some life long KISS ARMY members who retrace the steps of kiss. from there elementary schools, high schools, there homes, there neighborhood, there friends and neighbors, the earliest small clubs that they played before they were popular, all kinds of additional kisstory that leaves no stone unturned. very obscure stuff. grade B-. between these two documentaries you will know everything youve ever wanted to know about kiss. the disc ends with a couple minutes of kiss in rio 83 and peter on drums atlanta ‘96.

19) kiss meets the phantom, the cheesiest movie ever made!!! kiss w/superpowers battling their evil robot twins w/ karate moves! grade A-

20) “detroit rock city” the movie (for serious kiss fans only!) the fictional comedy movie made in 1999 about 4 teenagers in the 1970s trying to get into the detroit cobo hall show and the meyhem that follows. pretty funny movie that flew under the radar when it was released. and at the very end KISS actually make an appearance! gene simmons was a co-producer of the film, his wife shannon tweed is also in the movie. contains plenty of extras like deleted scenes and directors commentary, etc etc.

21) MC5 DVD – hey KISS fans: you wanna see where kiss came from? check out the MC5! aka the “motor city five”. these guys are the original detroit rockers, years before kiss! if youve ever heard early kiss aka WICKED LESTER you can hear how kiss was totally influenced by this band. and as far as stage presence and theatrics, ace frehley dressed up as the space ace guitarist? well check out mc5 guitarist fred “sonic” smith in his silver face paint and silver space man costume long before kiss existed! MC5 were one of the first bands to play serious loud rock and roll with an attitude, a really really good rock and roll band that would tear the place up, they rocked detroit, the states, and europe, played with everybody, hendrix, etc, but never broke thru to stardom, they were really good, really tuff, and made no apologies for there serious rock and roll. kiss’ sound, stage presence, stage show, etc etc. is totally reminiscent of the mc5. these guys are the original motor city madmen, not ted nugent! they existed from ‘65 to 72, then faded back into the underground from where they came. they deserve to be more recognized by more people for being the amazing band they were. they showed a lot of later bands how rock and roll is done. official DVD DOCUMENTARY.

-VH1 ROCK HONORS KISS this is actually the first annual vh1 “rock honors” done last year, 2006, las vegas, nv., pro shot, grade A+. it honors 3 bands, not just kiss, its kiss, judas priest and def leppard, (how def leppard gets in the same honors as priest and kiss i have no idea) the show is 2 hours long, they honor kiss last, they perform live in make up, an interview with the band, and some metal legends do a kiss cover with ace on guitar.

-KISS ‘98 halloween media collection 2 DVD SET- the original line up get together for some promo stuff. there is a full episode of the fox tv show millennium, where the subject of the murder mystery is suppose to take place around the Dodger Stadium halloween concert and actually has kiss in the episode with cameos with them as actors, then the full episode of mad tv shown before the dodger stadium concert broadcast, the guests that night is kiss, the whole line up perform in skits on the show. GRADE A, 2 hours, then the second disc is the actual dodger stadium halloween 1998 kiss concert, 2 hours long.
